Hiding That Your Site Runs WordPress

Its a sobering fact and one that I can testify to – most websites will be hacked at some stage. The ones most likely to be targeted are ones using programs such as due to its popularity. There are many ways to secure  but this should be considered one of the first steps and is simply a that can be installed quickly and simply.

Using the Secure WordPress plugin will not hide all traces of WordPress from your site’s code but it will make the WordPress version harder to identify, especially to search engines good and bad – remember even Google can be used to find vulnerable sites to hack. You will never be able to hide the version number from the source code completely as a number of plugins will reveal it.

Alternatively you can edit code if you prefer to keep the number of plugins used to a minimum.
